October 2021 Update

No real news at the moment – it is still –  wait and see!

Negotiations have been taking place between Kirklees Council and Cleckheaton U3A.

The Council knows that we wish to start classes again from October 2021 and dates have been “pencilled in”.

However what (if any) restrictions will be in place, will depend on the Government’s rules and guidance and as yet these are unknown.

As soon as we have any information this will be posted here in Stop Press.

Fancy a Trip to Northumberland?

Town Hall Update

Kirklees Council is looking to see how it can re-open its building, following Government guidelines and road map plans and is in touch with the organisations that use their buildings.

Once any details about the re-reopening of Cleckheaton Town Hall are known they will be published on Stop Press.

Ukulele Players

Tony Bannister, the Ukulele Tutor, is planning to run some Zoom lessons with another of his ukulele groups from next week.

If any of the Cleckheaton U3A Ukulele players want to join them and have his email address then get in touch.

If you do not have his email address, contact us and we will send your details on.

If you know any members of the ukulele class who may not see this Stop Press then please let them know.

No classes – January – March 2021

There will NOT BE ANY CLASSES from January to March 2021.

The following are the main points that have played a part in this sad decision:

  • Restrictions on the type of classes we can run.
  • Restrictions placed on us so we can safely use Cleckheaton Town Hall.
  • Difficulties that would be encountered with implementing new enrolment procedures.
  • Changing Government rules and guidance both locally and nationally.

The situation will be reviewed periodically in the New Year with the hope that some classes will be able to run in the summer of 2021.

Changes & Restrictions 2021

Hopefully we will be starting some of our classes in January 2021.

However some changes have had to be made and restrictions put in place so that Cleckheaton Town Hall can be used safely.

These are all detailed on the new Covid-19 page on the website – Top Left Hand Corner of the Menu.

This page will be updated as soon as new information becomes available or changes are made.
